Assault suspect arrested after barricading inside Gaston County home – WSOC TV

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A domestic violence suspect is in custody after barricading himself inside a home Monday, police said.

Gaston County police were trying to arrest 61-year-old Gregory McAlister for assault on a female, resisting a public officer, and misdemeanor domestic violence.

Police first shared information about the incident around 11 a.m. Monday. They went to a home on Philadelphia Church Road between Old Hardin Road and Fancy Hill Road to serve the warrants.

According to the Gaston County Police Department, when officers tried to contact McAlister, he refused to come out of the home and threatened violence toward officers. He implied that he was armed with a gun, authorities said.

Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the scene before noon and could see several officers lining the street.

Around noon Monday, Gaston County police confirmed to Channel 9 that the suspect had been arrested.

Officers said they negotiated with McAlister in order to get him to surrender peacefully. He was taken to the Gaston County jail where he was served with his outstanding warrants.
