AlphaTauri indirectly urges Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo to keep the Red Bull dream aside in 2024
The Red Bull driver market is a chaotic one, and also highly sought-after due to the champion team’s exclusivity. Red Bull has its method and pathway to reach one of their two seats finally, and the last step to impress is their very own junior team, the AlphaTauri squad.
With Sergio Perez’s place with Red Bull under scrutiny, Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda will try to jump at the opportunity and impress Red Bull. However, AlphaTauri CEO Peter Bayer has said that both drivers should focus on the ‘here and now’ rather than future career prospects.
They will have to show in each race that they are capable of performing. But it is important to let them do it, and I sincerely believe that they are one hundred per cent focused on the here and now.Peter Bayer said, as reported by soymotor.com
Peter Bayer went on to say that the competition between the two in 2024 could be intense. As the company has undergone a rebrand with management changes, a lucrative end goal for the drivers will add to a chaotic season for the Faenza team.
Yuki Tsunoda has been at AlphaTauri for all three of his years in Formula 1, formerly teammates with Pierre Gasly. Now, the Japanese driver has been joined by the veteran Daniel Ricciardo, who raced with the then-Toro Rosso team more than a decade ago.
The two have worked well together, with Tsunoda learning from his more experienced teammate. Particularly, Tsunoda said that Ricciardo’s ability to give feedback to the team was awe-inspiring and quite opposed to his more subtle signs, something which he wishes to fix.
I'm learning from him already with quite a lot of things, especially how he behaves towards the team. It is quite different to me, especially as it is quite the opposite, which I wanted to fix.Yuki Tsunoda said, as reported by RacingNews365
Tsunoda and Ricciardo are both pointscorers in the 2023 season for AlphaTauri, though Ricciardo managed double due to his P7 finish. The two were more evenly matched near the end of the season and will be aiming to settle their positions in the team when the season kicks off in two months.
