On Monday, July 18, the news of the sudden death of famous Nollywood female actor Ada Ameh came as a rude shock to millions of Nigerians and many Nigerian movie lovers worldwide.

Few hours before her death, the movie star posted a video where she was seen having a good time with friends and colleagues.

The star was filmed actively vibing as at 12.53pm on Sunday, July 17, as she gave her taste buds a treat with a local delicacy. She reportedly collapsed by 11pm on the same day.

Who would have known Ada was going to collapse hours later as there were no visible signs of a health challenge in her last video.

While we mourn the legendary female actor, we have put together ten remarkable things you should know about her.

1. Birth and Childhood

The veteran actor was born in the Ajegunle part of Lagos on the 15th of May 1974.

She also acquired her primary and secondary school education in Lagos but dropped out at age 14.

Ajegunle is a famous neighbourhood in Lagos, popularly known as “AJ City” or simply “AJ”. The neighbourhood is home to prominent entertainers including singers Daddy Showkey, Majek Fashek, Oritsefemi, Blackface, Mad Melon, etc.

It is always the birthplace of some of Nigeria’s football greats. They include, Odion Ighalo, Taribo West, Samson Siasia, Victor Agali, Emmanuel Amunike and many more. Boxing legend, Bash Ali is also said to have been born in the neighbourhood.

2. State of Origin

Ada Ameh was a native of Idoma, Benue State.

Although Idoma, the movie star was multilingual and was said to have been fluently in Idoma, Ibibio, and Yoruba with a bit little of Igbo as well.

3. Early Pregnancy

She got pregnant at age 14, which resulted in the birth of her late daughter, Aladi.

4. Her Daughter’s Death

Ada Ameh lost her daughter, Aladi God gift in 2020. Aladi was 30 years old when she died.

5. Mental Health Battles

In a distressing post on June 2022, she revealed her mental health struggles.

Ameh revealed she couldn’t deliver her part of the deal cause she was battling with her mental health at the time and the client wouldn’t understand her plight.

She said the company was demanding a huge sum, an amount she couldn’t afford and was resolved not to let it weigh her down or kill her.

6. Career Span

Ada Ameh enjoyed an acting career that spanned 27years.

She came into the industry in 1995 and had her breakthrough in 1996.

She was rewarded for her sterling performances with several nominations and awards. Some include; Most Promising Actress in Nigeria (AMVCA), Best Comic Act to Watch (AMAA), Best Actress in a Comedy (City People Entertainment Awards), etc.

8. Marital Status

Her relationship status was not known to many as she kept such business away from the public.

Even though she was largely regarded as unmarried, she had in September 2021 shared a picture with birthday wishes appreciating an unnamed man for “standing by” her.

Ada Ameh sadly passed on July 17, 2022, age 48.

The famous female actor was said to have died in a hospital in Delta state after collapsing earlier.
