8 Years after leaving Nigeria, young man becomes a business owner in USA, shares pictures of his achievements

Nigerian professional basketball player, Munachiso Okonkwo, is celebrating eight years of departing Nigeria for ‘greener pastures’.

Okonkwo took to his LinkedIn page to share his transformation journey from the moment he departed the country.

In his post, he described his decision to leave as “crazy”, for someone who had no friends or family in America.

According to him, “I was crazy enough to trust an American scout that convinced me 6ft7 165Lbs Kid that I was better off playing basketball in America and if I worked hard enough might play pro basketball.”

Okonkwo will go on to play professional basketball, start a family and establish a business.

He said he’s now on “a new adventure building a startup SitEat” with his childhood friend Martins Udotai.

The SitEat initiative looks to reduce the time spent queuing up to purchase food, especially at games.

In other news, the aroma of Nigerian jollof rice is gradually spreading on the streets of London courtesy of a restaurant called 2 NIGERIAN BOYS.

The name on the lips of many is Azeez Olayide.

Azeez is reported to have established the roadside restaurant, popularly called “mama put” around Spitalfields Market, London.

Reports suggest he set up the business with a friend, but now runs it alone.

A close look at the restaurant’s menu list shows that a plate of jollof rice with salad goes for £5.00 (N2,516.51), while jollof with plantain goes for £6.00 (N3,019.92).

Other prices listed include; jollof rice with chicken stew £8.00 (N4,026.18); jollof rice with beef stew £9.00 (4,531.66); jollof rice with lamb stew £10.00 (5,034.80); while plantain goes for £1.00 (503.61).
