5 things you need to know for Friday, Nov. 10

Good morning. Here are five things you need to know today...

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) - Good morning. Here are five things you need to know today:

1) A Shelbyville man hasn't been seen in four days. Family members say 38-year-old Chris Young went running after the family dogs after they got out of the house. Sometime while that was happening, we're told he got into a fight and his head was hurt and bleeding. Now his family is asking anyone who might have seen him to call police immediately.

2) A Muncie charity is in need of your help after thieves broke into a storage unit housing all their holiday donations and food prep for their big Thanksgiving dinner. Not much was taken, but a lot of what was left was exposed to the rain and is unsalvageable. The Feed My Sheep charity has started a GoFundMe page to try and re-coup the costs of everything they lost.

3) For the first time, more people are planning to shop online rather than in stores for the holidays. Lots of deliveries to your doorstep means lots of opportunities for package theft. So how do you protect your packages? From the Amazon Key that lets delivery workers into your home to lock your packages safely inside, to a device called the Package Guard that alerts you when something has been taken off your porch while you're not there, homeowners have several new options.

4) It's regionals week for Operation Football! Dave Calabro reports from Zionsville High School starting at 5 p.m. The Eagles, winners of 5A Sectional 12, host Sectional 11 winners Kokomo. The Eagles will also be the Cheerleaders of the Week tonight on Operation Football! Be sure to check out our Battle Plan for a full list of what games we're covering.

5) The Arctic front has passed through and we can sure feel it. Chuck Lofton says parents need to pull out heavy winter coats for your kids headed off to school today. Our high temperatures today only manage to move into the mid-30s, nearly 20 degrees colder than normal. Lots of cheering and blankets may help you keep warm tonight for Operation Football as temperatures drop into the 20s by the 4th quarter of the regional games. Another hard freeze is coming tomorrow morning, but we'll begin Veterans Day with sunshine. Clouds increase by late afternoon and likely prevent high temperatures from reaching 40 degrees.
