'Manifest' Season 1 episode 15 preview: Rescued man from van claims 'Callings' are capable of much more
The story of NBC's mystery thriller, 'Manifest', follows the passengers of Montego Air Flight 828 who were presumed dead when the plane went missing almost five and a half years ago. However, once it arrived, the passengers realized they hadn't aged a day and were now hearing voices in their heads, they interpret as "Callings".
Starring Josh Dallas as Ben Stone, Melissa Roxburgh as Michaela Stone, Jack Messina as Cal Stone, and Matt Long as Zeke, the Jeff Rake-created show revolves around the Stone family, three of who were on that plane, and strangely enough it is Ben's son, Cal, who developed clairsensitive powers that help him predict the future and read minds.
In the last two episodes, Cal's powers led him to discover a non-passenger, Zeke, is experiencing the "Callings" just like the passengers. Once the two met, Zeke tried to persuade Cal to use his powers to see what dangers lay ahead and draw them down. Cal knew every time he drew what the "Callings" would show him, his vision would come true.
He initially showed immense reluctance to Zeke's persuasion as he feared that if he drew his vision, which showed a wolf attacking his aunt, Michaela, it would come true. However, Zeke was not ready to give up and asked Cal to draw a pile of money to see if that comes true.
Cal did not get a "Calling" about the pile of money but he drew the image and quite expectedly, the prediction did not come true. However, both the drawings of the wolf and the money seemed to have come true on a very different note, and fans were quick to notice the missing link here. In Episode 14 we saw Michaela rescuing a man who was stuck inside a van loaded with millions of dollars, that had been drowned in the water for more than 80 hours.
As soon as Michaela opened the door of the rescued van, the man pounced at her, just like a wolf. A fan on Reddit mentioned, "In the last episode, Cal drew a table full of money and Mick getting attacked by a wolf. The van was full of millions of dollars, and the driver growled at Mick when she opened the door, so we can assume that new guy is the wolf, right?"
It can be expected, this new character, the man from the van, might have a lot to contribute to the already convoluted mystery of the plane. Like Zeke, he was not on the plane either, but the promo trailer for Episode 15 reveals him explaining to Michaela that whatever they knew about the "Callings" was very limited.
He says: "Your thinking has been far too narrow, these 'Callings' are capable of so much more." After Zeke, he is yet another non-passenger who seems to know about the "Callings". However, the fact that Cal drew him in the image of a wolf, might indicate something about the character. We still do not know what it is, but hopefully, that will be revealed when Episode 15 releases February 11. Watch the promo trailer below.
